When you retire, you must change your focus from your day-to-day employment to new challengesโ€”enjoyable challenges. You want them.

Don’t get bored in retirement! Steps so you don’t fall into this retirement trap.

Were you going to travel? Or go back to school to study something you always wanted to study? Itโ€™s possible that many colleges and universities offer special rates for senior citizens. How fulfilling does that sound?

Or maybe you want to write books, short stories, or even a blog. Iโ€™ve done that, and itโ€™s a lot of funโ€”itโ€™s not work at all. Creativity keeps your mind sharp, which is important in fighting off dementia.

Get outdoors

Hiking is great. Itโ€™s exercise and uplifting. You are out in the great outdoors enjoying the sun, and the tranquility of it all can be breathtaking.

Bike riding is a great way to exercise. Enjoying the great outdoors.

Swimming is excellent. You can enjoy it in a public pool. Lakes, oceans, or anywhere there is water offer opportunities too. Aqua aerobics is easy on the body and good exercise. And with all these things, you will probably find other folks in similar situations. What a great way to make friends.

I know some of these activities cost money. And that can be a problem if you are on a fixed income. More than ever, you have to be careful with your funds. But that doesnโ€™t remove all your retirement activities. Senior discounts can be found everywhere.

Health Challenges

Another challenge is your health. Maybe you canโ€™t swim, hike, or even take much of a walk. There are still plenty of things to keep you busy besides being a couch potato. Donโ€™t let limitations get you down. Always check with a doctor before doing any physical activity. Local senior centers always have something you would like to do.

I hope you find something enjoyable and rewarding to do.
